I asked Spirit what message do you have for the world today to guide us towards our highest good?

Three wands, three weeks. It takes three weeks, often, for symptoms of a COVID19 infection to show. That means that the statistics that we look at today represent the moment people were exposed to the virus, on average, three weeks ago. They reflect on what we were doing at that time. When you see today’s data, think back to our actions as a collective three weeks ago.

If we assume that because the curve is flattening today, life can return to normal and we can venture out without protecting the people around us with safe social distancing, we may very well see a surge in new cases in mid-June.

Our seniors are worried. They are the most vulnerable. When you look at the data today, please consider the three-week lag, and continue to protect our elderly.

The numerological cards today support this. THE MOON lets us know that things are not always as they appear. Landmarks around us may be illuminated with reflected light and obscured. THE HERMIT encourages us to maintain our solitude, and really look within when making our choices.

In our enthusiasm to leave our homes, and our longing for normal behaviors, are we turning our backs on those among us who suffer from chronic health issues? Venture out, yes. Step outside the confines of sheltering-in-place with glee, but not with foolish glee. We mustn’t get careless and drop our guards.

It is so easy to forget when the killer is invisible. Wearing a mask and gloves are not second nature to many of us. However, for the love of those among us who are most vulnerable to the fatal side effects of the COVID19 virus, I feel that Spirit urges us with these cards to remain careful. Maybe we can don our protective gear with intention while sending a love blessing to all those in this world who we guard, nurture, show love for, even if we have never met them.

Today’s numerological cards are THE DEVIL and THE LOVERS. This lends extra caution not to let our lust for pleasures blind us from making choices centered in the Highest Good.

Let’s turn that Knight of Cups around and offer that chalice to those anxious individuals suffering from chronic health issues.

Spirit is telling us through these cards that communicating from an authentic place will bring positive changes to our lives. Speak out.

Surrounded by darkness, balanced atop a narrow rise, our futures, once open and bright, charted across our various calendar apps, are now obscured. We are alone. Cut off from social gatherings, some of us, from human touch. Our worries about friends, and survival as the world transforms, erodes at our spirits. What will this virus steal next?

The Hermit card reminds us that strength can be found through our intuition, in the unconscious, in the energy of all beings that can be sensed only when we close our outer eyes and look from inside. This connection to all earth’s spirits, the plants, the rocks, the waters, the animals, the people, the planets, becomes the staff that we grip to support our balance. Our energy is part of an expansive unity.

Spirit’s white light illuminates our path in this darkest of times with the realization that though we cannot know or control the details, we can be confident of the Divine’s love for us and presence with us, as our soul’s journey cycles on.

This weekend, Christians celebrate Easter, and the Jewish Faith is in the midst of their Passover remembrance and celebration.

It is a time when, even if we don’t celebrate these holidays, we witness the rituals, and maybe partake in secular spin-offs, such as easter egg hunts and decorating, and Easter baskets. Here in the US, the retail stores started prominently displaying chocolate bunnies and jelly beans over a month ago.

For those of us of faith, our religious rituals are steadfast supportive pillars in our lives. For those of us who don’t celebrate Easter or Passover, we often have traditions of our own that ride in the wake of the religious ones, family get-togethers, and meals. These gatherings tie our community together and remind us of the year’s cycles.

This year, when we are quarantined in our homes, a deep depression can arise from the inability to congregate with our families and communities to partake in our traditions, be they religious or secular. Change is uncomfortable and can be scary. Our feelings of isolation and of being adrift will intensify.

Spirit’s message to us today is to reach out to our friends, family, congregations, and find ways to meet virtually. This human contact, sharing emotions, honoring each other, looking at each other in the eye, raising a glass together, is part of the thread that stitches together our sense of belonging.

The Wheel of Fortune influence today reminds us that these holidays are cyclical and can mark pivot points in our year, like birthdays. The Magician tells us that we have all the tools to make a group celebration possible while maintaining social distancing.

We are asked to be aware, too, of the individuals unable to connect to the internet or to leave their homes physically or virtually. How can we support them this weekend? Maybe we could create a phone chain to reach out to those most vulnerable to depression today.

NINE OF WANDS REVERSED – Tarot
THE KEY + THE CHILD + THE MICE – Lenormand

The Nine of Wands reversed often represents someone who is holding on to ideas or premises long after they no longer apply to a situation, a soldier on his battlements who refuses to believe that the war is over, for example, or someone who fears change.

The Lenormand clarifier cards are telling us that the new and innovative solutions (Key + Child) that we are adopting to manage during the epidemic – Zoom conferencing, for example – are a source of anxiety for some of us (The Mice).

Already the level of anxiety that many of us are feeling is heightened. We are shut-in, and the world outside our homes poses life-threatening, invisible dangers. Our routines have needed to completely change. We are dependent upon skills that might not come quickly to us (especially those of us who are older). Through the years, I’ve seen people struggle with social media, using email, and learning how to work with online platforms. When I think about how trapped they must feel, today, by their fears of technology, my heart goes out to them.

I think this message has two parts. The first is to have some empathy for the level of discomfort those not born to smartphones, computers, and social media are experiencing.

The second message is to those of us who might be paralyzed by our conviction that we can’t figure out Zoom or Skype or Facetime. Spirit is confident that we can do this. Think of all the other challenges we have overcome in our lifetimes. We are only as limited as we believe we are.

Today is a good day to try. There is no penalty if we can’t figure it out right away, no rush. If we get stuck, make sure to breathe, remain calm, get a cup of tea or wine, and relax into the task. Treat it like a fun puzzle. If we can, have a friend or family member talk us through it over the phone.

I randomly drew the first set of cards without shuffling first and then thought I’d better try again, and shuffle them before pulling from the decks. So I have two messages for us today.

1st Draw:
KNIGHT OF SWORDS – Tarot
THE SUN + THE SERPENT + THE CROSSROADS + THE SHIP – Lenormand

The Knight of Swords is urging us (from the safety of our self-isolation) to rush the word out. Shout out our truth to the world. What truth? The Lenormand cards are specific. Spread the information that the Sun (coming to light, revealing) has exposed about The Serpent (the poison, the lies).

As the aggressive spread and fatality rates of COVID19 increase, it is so crucial to get the facts out to our communities so that they are armed with accurate information when faced with decisions (The Crossroads) about leaving their homes and/or traveling (The Ship).

 

2nd Draw:
ACE OF WANDS – Tarot
THE MICE + THE HEART + THE FISH – Lenormand

In the second message, I see that we are anxious (The Mice) about the finances (The Fish) of our loved ones (The Heart), or about money in general. The Ace of Wands is encouraging us to come up with new solutions, pursue new ideas on how to generate streams of income that are rooted in activities that we love, in our passions.

This message could also be encouraging us to brainstorm new and innovative ways to supplement the incomes of those that we hold dear.

1st draw: THE SNAKE + THE WHIP + THE KEY – Lenormand
2nd draw: THE MICE + THE KEY + THE WHIP – Lenormand

The Fool card is telling us that we cannot control events, and, like the Fool, we need to relax our grip on needing control. For our peace of mind.

However, the three clarifying Lenormand cards are a warning.
The Snake (lies), The Whip (debate), The Key (secrets and success)

Some of the individuals debating solutions right now do not have our best interests at heart and are working towards secretly ensuring their own success.

I reshuffled and pulled the clarifyer cards again. And the second result was also a warning.

The Mice (stealing), The Key (success), The Whip (debate)
Our personal success is being eroded by those people debating.

Like THE FOOL, we don’t have control of a pandemic and all of the fallout from it. Right now, life feels like we are stepping off a cliff. Our message today from Spirit, however, is to be careful who we listen to, who we follow.

There are people in power who would line their pockets with coins before saving lives. You might hear it is safe to go out and congregate with others before it truly is. You might find an offer of a cure or prevention for the illness that is nothing but snake oil. Have faith in your intuition. Have faith in Spirit. Do not blindly follow your fellow man. Be careful about what you purchase. Weigh your actions with your heart.

Sometimes it is hard to let go of things that we have experienced, words exchanged, decisions made.

We can beat ourselves up, arguing, reliving the moments of conflict inside our heads and hearts. Poking at what we wish we’d done differently, or at the emotional bruise, worrying at it like a loose tooth.

This constant snarl of regrets can eat at us, feed anxiety, slowly erode our health, our sense of well being, and our relationships with the people around us.

Our message today is to breathe deeply. Inhale all the good of Spirit and exhale all of our regrets. We can learn from them without clinging to them. Carry with us the wisdom gained, and leave the regrets and grudges behind. One buoys our journey, the other impedes it.
