We are all experiencing different levels of hardship brought on by our forced shelter-in-place orders.

Today, Spirit asks us to look upon this time as a gift, even our troubles. This moment offers us the opportunity to contemplate, to pursue, to think about what our true passions are. Look within and remember what sparked the fires of our youth. Were there creative pursuits, ambitions, activities that lit us up, that the grind and hustle of life caused us to abandon or forget? Do we have new instincts, new drives being birthed by witnessing the sorrows of today through the lens of our accumulated wisdom?

Remember that Page of Wands that lives deep inside you, and embrace them anew. Allow that staff of fire to heat you up inside, to support you, so that new, green, beautiful life, ideas, energy, and concepts emerge.

THE BOOK + THE TOWER + THE FOX – Lenormand

I have two interpretations, as the Lenormand cards can be read in two different ways.

The first way as knowledge of the law (BOOK + TOWER), and a lawyer (TOWER + FOX).

The second interpretation of THE BOOK + THE TOWER + THE FOX is: deceptive officials in governance have kept secrets from us.

The TEN OF PENTACLES here represents our legacies. The reversed position implies that this pinnacle of our Pentacles journey is imperiled in some way.

The first message is morbid but practical advice. In this time of uncertainty, make sure that if something happened to our loved ones or to us, that our legacy will be allocated the way we would like.

So we could contact our lawyers, if we have one, or look online for resources, to be sure that our family legacies or our life’s work are not left to our local government or courts to dispense of. It might ease some of our collective anxiety if we are confident we have protected our dependents, and that our assets will be distributed in a way that mirrors our core values.

The second message would be. By keeping knowledge from us, officials have damaged our financial success, savings, legacies. The cards are saying, “heads up, be aware that our trials today might, in part, be caused by the coverup or delay of information.”

THE NINE OF SWORDS – Tarot
THE TREE + THE TOWER + THE SHIP – Lenormand

The Nine of Swords clearly illustrates our collective anxiety today with the spread of the coronavirus, and more local governments asking us to stay home and shutting down businesses.

The Tree Lenormand stands for health, the Tower Lenormand isolation, and feelings of being trapped. The Ship Lenormand card can symbolize something coming from overseas, commerce, or even illness.

The Lenormand clarifiers describe everything panicking me right now: our health, being shut-in, and the spread of the coronavirus and fate of the global economy.

Today’s message from Spirit is an acknowledgment of what we are feeling, and, with the Tower Lenormand’s central position, a reinforcement that staying home is the right thing to do.

Swords are the suit of air, of thoughts, of communication. The Nine of Swords shows deep anxiety, but it also reminds us that our fears stem from our thoughts. We can control our thinking. We can choose to focus on topics that don’t alarm us.

Today might be a good day to resist looking at the news, to put our phones and social media away, and to focus, instead, on envisioning the world that we would like to create once this panic is passed.

The Tower Lenormand card stands for isolation. It can also represent corporations and large businesses. The Letter Lenormand card speaks of written correspondences. The House Lenormand card is seen as your home or household. These three cards combined allude to how workers are being asked to work from home, to diminish the spread of the coronavirus.

The Seven of Pentacles shows a worker, stopping their toils momentarily to contemplate their progress.

Our message today is to take advantage of this change in routine to assess our work.

This is a rare chance, standing out of the daily grind of our workplace, to step back and to really think about our jobs. We spend the majority of our week working. Do the fruits of our labor align with our higher calling? Are there things that we could do differently when at work to produce more satisfying results? What do we overlook when we trudge on our usual treadmill? Do we find joy in our vocation? What are we grateful for?

Working from home gives us a rare opportunity to stop our toils, lean on our hoes, and think about what we are building in this world.

THE HANGED MAN – Tarot
First draw:
THE MOUNTAIN – Lenormand
THE STARS + THE TOWER – Lenormand

Second draw:
THE DOG – Lenormand
THE LILIES – Lenormand

The Stars and the Tower fell out together – I see this pair as representing the internet. The Tower could be the “server towers,” which host and serve all of our online content, and the Stars are all of the sparks of connectivity.

When I first saw the Lenormand grouping, I was perplexed. There are a lot of different interpretations possible, so I did the Lenormand drawing again and pulled the Dog and the Lilies.

Our message today is to heed the warning/challenges (the Mountain) that the internet and social media are talking about, and stay put. Stay isolated (the Tower). Change plans, change perspectives, hang out. Suspend your travel plans.

The second draw could be emphasizing that this is particularly important for your elderly loved ones. (the Dog + the Lilies).

The Dog can also represent your best friend, soulmate, romantic partner, and the Lilies sometimes symbolize sexuality. So… if you are isolating at home, in limbo, with your spouse or lover, you may want to rekindle that physical love connection.
