We might not be at our best, stuck inside for months. Without the distractions of our regular busy schedules, we’ve learned a lot about ourselves. It is time to own our qualities, good and bad, dress for court, and rally the troops to make a change. Reach out, organize, network.

This weekend, Christians celebrate Easter, and the Jewish Faith is in the midst of their Passover remembrance and celebration.

It is a time when, even if we don’t celebrate these holidays, we witness the rituals, and maybe partake in secular spin-offs, such as easter egg hunts and decorating, and Easter baskets. Here in the US, the retail stores started prominently displaying chocolate bunnies and jelly beans over a month ago.

For those of us of faith, our religious rituals are steadfast supportive pillars in our lives. For those of us who don’t celebrate Easter or Passover, we often have traditions of our own that ride in the wake of the religious ones, family get-togethers, and meals. These gatherings tie our community together and remind us of the year’s cycles.

This year, when we are quarantined in our homes, a deep depression can arise from the inability to congregate with our families and communities to partake in our traditions, be they religious or secular. Change is uncomfortable and can be scary. Our feelings of isolation and of being adrift will intensify.

Spirit’s message to us today is to reach out to our friends, family, congregations, and find ways to meet virtually. This human contact, sharing emotions, honoring each other, looking at each other in the eye, raising a glass together, is part of the thread that stitches together our sense of belonging.

The Wheel of Fortune influence today reminds us that these holidays are cyclical and can mark pivot points in our year, like birthdays. The Magician tells us that we have all the tools to make a group celebration possible while maintaining social distancing.

We are asked to be aware, too, of the individuals unable to connect to the internet or to leave their homes physically or virtually. How can we support them this weekend? Maybe we could create a phone chain to reach out to those most vulnerable to depression today.

We are all experiencing different levels of hardship brought on by our forced shelter-in-place orders.

Today, Spirit asks us to look upon this time as a gift, even our troubles. This moment offers us the opportunity to contemplate, to pursue, to think about what our true passions are. Look within and remember what sparked the fires of our youth. Were there creative pursuits, ambitions, activities that lit us up, that the grind and hustle of life caused us to abandon or forget? Do we have new instincts, new drives being birthed by witnessing the sorrows of today through the lens of our accumulated wisdom?

Remember that Page of Wands that lives deep inside you, and embrace them anew. Allow that staff of fire to heat you up inside, to support you, so that new, green, beautiful life, ideas, energy, and concepts emerge.

The Crossroads: decisions
The Gentleman: our masculine side/energy, ambition, action, strength, logic, power, dominance
The Cross: hardship, heartache, burdens

The hardships that we are feeling today are, in part, a result of accumulated decisions that humanity has made from a place of masculine energy. We have, perhaps, been living globally with an imbalance between our masculine and our feminine qualities. The male attributes being exalted, and the feminine disenfranchised or seen as weak.

The Page of Cups reversed is asking us to look deep inside ourselves and figure out how we can reprogram our responses, our reactions to situations, so that they come more from a place of water, of give, of empathy, of nurturing, of fluidity.

How can we shift our habits, our impulses, our learned reactions to be balanced with the feminine energy that resides in all. The Page of Cups is curious, creative, and open to new ideas. They are water’s messenger.

Let’s work with our inner Page to try to change mankind’s trajectory, one person at a time. It starts with each of us, individually, and our behaviors. Let us tap into the feminine energies inside ourselves, sink into them, and observe how they might balance our pre-programmed responses.

1st Draw: THE LILIES + THE HOUSE + THE SERPENT – Lenormand
2nd Draw: THE TREE + THE CROSS + THE BIRDS – Lenormand

The King of Cups reversed illustrates that this forced confinement inside our homes, deluged with disturbing news from the world, threatens our equilibrium. Emotions are running high, and risk capsizing us.

I drew the Lenormand clarifier cards twice because the first draw was not clear to me. Lilies Lenormand can represent the elderly or mature people in our lives. It also illustrates purity, calm, retirement, relaxation. The Lilies + The House + The Snake combination could indicate that we have a choice in our actions and reactions between purity and calmness, and lashing out at people poisonously. It could also mean that the elderly people in our homes are threatened by an outside poison or deceit.

The second time I drew the clarifiers, I pulled The Tree (health), The Cross (heartache), The Birds (siblings, flock, chatter). These three cards emphasize that heartache and trepidation about the health of ourselves and our loved ones, and the constant gossip or chatter about health, are also destabilizing our emotions.

Our message from Spirit today is to work to maintain emotional balance. If we have to tune out the world around us to do so, so be it. If we are in close and constant proximity to our housemates, we can try finding a separate nook, putting on headphones or earplugs, and immersing ourselves in our favorite music, in drawing or crafting, in a good novel, in meditation. Anything to give our hearts a respite from the outside chatter. If we are isolating alone, we can turn off our social media and our phones for a couple of hours, and do something for ourselves that requires our complete focus. Turning our attention from the external noise and worry to something creative or nourishing, will ease our hearts.

The Four of Wands is a card celebrating homecomings. The joy of being with our village and family in celebration.

The Cross Lenormand can symbolize burdens and heartaches. The Ship Lenormand represents something that is coming from overseas, a person, commerce, a virus. The Clover Lenormand card is seen as a card of transient luck and good fortune – not hit the 100 million dollar lottery ticket luck, but rather the $10 scratch ticket luck that allows you to buy lunch. The luck that causes the sky to clear for the length of the little league game. The luck that gives you time at home with your family.

This week we are being called back to our homes and home towns from places far away, schools, study abroad, travel, work. The message today is to look for the good fortunes resulting from this forced homecoming as opposed to the burdens. There is always a blessing. If we focus on gratitude instead of the inconveniences, the joy of the Four of Wands will manifest for us.

If we live alone and far from our home village, there are ways of reaching out to family and friends afar, to bring them into our dwellings: Facetime, Facebook, WhatsApp, to name a few.

There is a musician couple on the island where I live who have started streaming live videos from their living room to the community. They call it #SocialDistanceSing, and they take requests and sing for you. They are @workmansong and @si.may0. This talented duo will be streaming live on Youtube for St. Patricks Eve at 7:30 EST, so check out their feeds for details.

Look for the luck, and it will appear.
