I asked Spirit what message do you have for the world today to guide us towards our highest good?

Most of us rely on support groups, peer groups of some sort or another. We belong to online forums, book clubs, sports leagues, alumni associations, communities of friends. We read their posts on Facebook and Instagram. We often share similar interests and beliefs about the world.

However, sometimes, with the best of intentions, our friends can give us faulty advice. Before we jump on our stallions, brandishing our wands, ready to champion our cause, Spirit advises us to stop and think about all of our sources of information. To sift them. Inhale them, exhale them, and see how they sit with our intuition. Be sure the foundation that you are launching yourself from is grounded in your truth, and not solely that of others.

THE DOG (faithful friends) + THE MICE (anxiety, stealing, nibbling) + THE STORK (transformation) – Lenormand

Surrounded by darkness, balanced atop a narrow rise, our futures, once open and bright, charted across our various calendar apps, are now obscured. We are alone. Cut off from social gatherings, some of us, from human touch. Our worries about friends, and survival as the world transforms, erodes at our spirits. What will this virus steal next?

The Hermit card reminds us that strength can be found through our intuition, in the unconscious, in the energy of all beings that can be sensed only when we close our outer eyes and look from inside. This connection to all earth’s spirits, the plants, the rocks, the waters, the animals, the people, the planets, becomes the staff that we grip to support our balance. Our energy is part of an expansive unity.

Spirit’s white light illuminates our path in this darkest of times with the realization that though we cannot know or control the details, we can be confident of the Divine’s love for us and presence with us, as our soul’s journey cycles on.

THE CROSS + THE DOG + THE MICE – Lenormand

This weekend, Christians celebrate Easter, and the Jewish Faith is in the midst of their Passover remembrance and celebration.

It is a time when, even if we don’t celebrate these holidays, we witness the rituals, and maybe partake in secular spin-offs, such as easter egg hunts and decorating, and Easter baskets. Here in the US, the retail stores started prominently displaying chocolate bunnies and jelly beans over a month ago.

For those of us of faith, our religious rituals are steadfast supportive pillars in our lives. For those of us who don’t celebrate Easter or Passover, we often have traditions of our own that ride in the wake of the religious ones, family get-togethers, and meals. These gatherings tie our community together and remind us of the year’s cycles.

This year, when we are quarantined in our homes, a deep depression can arise from the inability to congregate with our families and communities to partake in our traditions, be they religious or secular. Change is uncomfortable and can be scary. Our feelings of isolation and of being adrift will intensify.

Spirit’s message to us today is to reach out to our friends, family, congregations, and find ways to meet virtually. This human contact, sharing emotions, honoring each other, looking at each other in the eye, raising a glass together, is part of the thread that stitches together our sense of belonging.

The Wheel of Fortune influence today reminds us that these holidays are cyclical and can mark pivot points in our year, like birthdays. The Magician tells us that we have all the tools to make a group celebration possible while maintaining social distancing.

We are asked to be aware, too, of the individuals unable to connect to the internet or to leave their homes physically or virtually. How can we support them this weekend? Maybe we could create a phone chain to reach out to those most vulnerable to depression today.

If we are struggling to manifest our creative ideas, projects, and ambitions because of long term struggles with addiction or hardship,
today is a good day to find a coach or mentor. Even talking to a steadfast friend might help. These cards strongly suggest the benefit of working with someone outside yourself to help you gain traction.

THE HERMIT – Tarot
THE HEART + THE WHIP + THE ANCHOR – Lenormand

With the Hermit as the primary card, I see the Lenormand clarifiers as referring to how hard it is to love ourselves, to view ourselves honestly, and accept what we see with kindness. It takes a consistent effort of self-evaluation and shadow work to heal and learn to forgive our blemishes and push ourselves towards our highest good. This effort will be life long, but so so rewarding. Shine Spirit’s light inside ourselves and gather all of our fragments and facets up in love.

I am doing a daily Tarot draw asking Spirit, what message do you have for the world today, what guidance, to help us manifest our highest good?

Today, I called out to ALL of our spirit guides, ancestors, and guardian angels, and the messages coming in were so individual that I ended up pulling three sets of cards. Maybe one of them will resonate with you.

First Draw:
Message to the World
April 1st, 2020
THE PAGE OF WANDS – Tarot
The Clover + The Home + The Lady – Lenormand clarifiers

MESSAGE 1:
In this draw, I am interpreting THE LADY as representing something domestic. (It can also be our feminine side, ourselves if we identify as female or a significant woman in our lives). The Clover stands for good fortune, luck, and The House for our household and homes.

This first message shouts out to all of us who are starting to feel like being shut in is a stroke of good fortune. Our forced inaction is allowing us to rekindle domestic interests, or igniting new ideas for home-based projects. Spirit today encourages us in these pursuits, whatever they might be. It could be doing things together with our families, exploring new domestic talents like cooking, sewing, redecorating, or maybe launching podcasts and live streaming videos from our homes on topics that interest us. Good for us!

THE FIVE OF SWORDS REVERSED – Tarot
The Whip + The Ring + The Heart – Lenormand clarifiers

MESSAGE 2:
In this draw, I am interpreting The Whip Lenormand as representing “beating ourselves up about something,” The Ring as promises, and the Heart is our loved ones or something that we love to do.

The second message is to STOP beating ourselves up if today’s events are keeping us from fulfilling promises that we’ve made to loved ones, or to ourselves about interests that are dear to us.

We know best how to push our own buttons, and when we don’t fulfill promises that might be sacred to us or measure up to personal ideals, we come down harder on ourselves than others might. Especially when we are isolated, or scared, or feel powerless, it’s easy to self-sabotage.

Maybe we are unable to visit elderly family members who are in assisted living facilities despite vowing long ago that we would always be there for them. Perhaps we can’t take our children on the vacation that we promised them, or, even, had to cancel our wedding.

All fitness classes and facilities are closed, and maybe we just don’t have the space to continue at home, despite our best intentions.

Whatever it might be, this message is to forgive ourselves for these circumstances that are beyond our control. Stop wasting energy self-flagellating for things we can’t do anything about, and turn our focus on what we can do, instead.

Third Draw:

THE NINE OF CUPS – Tarot
The Bear + The House + The Dog – Lenormand

MESSAGE 3
In the Nine of Cups, I always see all of those chalices up on the pedestal behind the figure as representing the man’s loved ones and emotional connections. He sits proudly in front of the display, saying, “These are my riches.” You will notice, too, that he is keeping an acceptable social distance from them. His arms are crossed in front of him. He is not touching, hugging, or breathing on them.

The Bear can represent protection. The House Lenormand, our household, our close friends and family. The Dog Lenormand, trustworthiness, loyalty.

This third message is to keep up the excellent work! Our shelter-in-place is helping to protect the people that we hold dear.

THE HANGED MAN – Tarot
First draw:
THE MOUNTAIN – Lenormand
THE STARS + THE TOWER – Lenormand

Second draw:
THE DOG – Lenormand
THE LILIES – Lenormand

The Stars and the Tower fell out together – I see this pair as representing the internet. The Tower could be the “server towers,” which host and serve all of our online content, and the Stars are all of the sparks of connectivity.

When I first saw the Lenormand grouping, I was perplexed. There are a lot of different interpretations possible, so I did the Lenormand drawing again and pulled the Dog and the Lilies.

Our message today is to heed the warning/challenges (the Mountain) that the internet and social media are talking about, and stay put. Stay isolated (the Tower). Change plans, change perspectives, hang out. Suspend your travel plans.

The second draw could be emphasizing that this is particularly important for your elderly loved ones. (the Dog + the Lilies).

The Dog can also represent your best friend, soulmate, romantic partner, and the Lilies sometimes symbolize sexuality. So… if you are isolating at home, in limbo, with your spouse or lover, you may want to rekindle that physical love connection.

THREE OF CUPS REVERSED – Tarot
The Three of Cups is about celebration, gathering with friends, elevating your spirits. In the reversed position, it could indicate that we have been spending too much time alone.

THE DOG – Lenormand
The Lenormand Dog represents a loyal friend, partner, trusted companion, or dog. It could be your therapist or pastor. It is someone who has your back and who you trust.

I think our message today is to celebrate whoever that dog card symbolizes for us. Break from routine and set up a date to do something purely for friendship, whether it is meeting a friend to go dancing, or taking our dog for a walk. Get out and celebrate friendship.

Sometimes the three of cups reversed can indicate excessive partying or drinking alone. If that resonates with where we are in life right now, these cards could be advising us to seek out a support group or a counselor today.
