THE TOWER REVERSED – Tarot
THE SCYTHE + THE SNAKE + THE SHIP – Lenormand

The Scythe + The Snake = bad decision, attack, physical harm
The Scythe + The Ship = journey abruptly ended, accident, trip cut short.
The Snake + The Ship = travel problems, trip with a liar

This message is a warning that it is still a dangerous decision to travel. We are still in our TOWER moment brought on by the pandemic. It is the first day of May. We want to get out. We are tired of sheltering in place. We are weary of the restrictions. Wouldn’t it be great to just walk out the door without a mask and hug all of our friends? Wouldn’t it be nice to go back to the gym, work, or go to the grocery store without feeling like we were going to war?

Yes. It would be nice. But don’t rush it. We are still in free-fall. We need to follow our intuitions, not our wishes. Be cautious. Stay safe.

I randomly drew the first set of cards without shuffling first and then thought I’d better try again, and shuffle them before pulling from the decks. So I have two messages for us today.

1st Draw:
KNIGHT OF SWORDS – Tarot
THE SUN + THE SERPENT + THE CROSSROADS + THE SHIP – Lenormand

The Knight of Swords is urging us (from the safety of our self-isolation) to rush the word out. Shout out our truth to the world. What truth? The Lenormand cards are specific. Spread the information that the Sun (coming to light, revealing) has exposed about The Serpent (the poison, the lies).

As the aggressive spread and fatality rates of COVID19 increase, it is so crucial to get the facts out to our communities so that they are armed with accurate information when faced with decisions (The Crossroads) about leaving their homes and/or traveling (The Ship).

 

2nd Draw:
ACE OF WANDS – Tarot
THE MICE + THE HEART + THE FISH – Lenormand

In the second message, I see that we are anxious (The Mice) about the finances (The Fish) of our loved ones (The Heart), or about money in general. The Ace of Wands is encouraging us to come up with new solutions, pursue new ideas on how to generate streams of income that are rooted in activities that we love, in our passions.

This message could also be encouraging us to brainstorm new and innovative ways to supplement the incomes of those that we hold dear.

THE RING + THE GARDEN + THE SHIP – Lenormand

The message of the Six of Pentacles in today’s reading is very literal. Give what we can to those in need.

However, the clarifying Lenormand cards are very specific today as well.

The Ring stands for cycles and promises. The Ship can symbolize travel from overseas. Our countries have a tradition of people crossing our borders for the promise of a better life, of a Garden of Eden. In today’s world, these immigrant communities may be undocumented or hidden mainly from the mainstream community. They work in the hotel industries, landscaping, housekeeping, in restaurants, in the building trades, in grocery stores. They may even be coworkers or members of our church or PTO.

As our governments struggle to find ways to give help to the legal citizens of our countries, these families that live and work alongside us, mostly hidden, are left vulnerable. In the USA, many may be scared to ask for medical or financial help for fear of deportation.

We are in the midst of a humanitarian crisis, and Spirit is asking us to let go of political divides, and to do what we can to help everyone in our villages, especially those that are undocumented and have no other recourse.

We can reach out to any nonprofits that specifically help this vulnerable population, or to their places of worship, and find out how we can safely give assistance, no matter how modest.

THE TREE + THE TOWER + THE SHIP – Lenormand

The Nine of Swords clearly illustrates our collective anxiety today with the spread of the coronavirus, and more local governments asking us to stay home and shutting down businesses.

The Tree Lenormand stands for health, the Tower Lenormand isolation, and feelings of being trapped. The Ship Lenormand card can symbolize something coming from overseas, commerce, or even illness.

The Lenormand clarifiers describe everything panicking me right now: our health, being shut-in, and the spread of the coronavirus and fate of the global economy.

Today’s message from Spirit is an acknowledgment of what we are feeling, and, with the Tower Lenormand’s central position, a reinforcement that staying home is the right thing to do.

Swords are the suit of air, of thoughts, of communication. The Nine of Swords shows deep anxiety, but it also reminds us that our fears stem from our thoughts. We can control our thinking. We can choose to focus on topics that don’t alarm us.

Today might be a good day to resist looking at the news, to put our phones and social media away, and to focus, instead, on envisioning the world that we would like to create once this panic is passed.

THE CROSS + THE SHIP + THE CLOVER – Lenormand

The Four of Wands is a card celebrating homecomings. The joy of being with our village and family in celebration.

The Cross Lenormand can symbolize burdens and heartaches. The Ship Lenormand represents something that is coming from overseas, a person, commerce, a virus. The Clover Lenormand card is seen as a card of transient luck and good fortune – not hit the 100 million dollar lottery ticket luck, but rather the $10 scratch ticket luck that allows you to buy lunch. The luck that causes the sky to clear for the length of the little league game. The luck that gives you time at home with your family.

This week we are being called back to our homes and home towns from places far away, schools, study abroad, travel, work. The message today is to look for the good fortunes resulting from this forced homecoming as opposed to the burdens. There is always a blessing. If we focus on gratitude instead of the inconveniences, the joy of the Four of Wands will manifest for us.

If we live alone and far from our home village, there are ways of reaching out to family and friends afar, to bring them into our dwellings: Facetime, Facebook, WhatsApp, to name a few.

There is a musician couple on the island where I live who have started streaming live videos from their living room to the community. They call it #SocialDistanceSing, and they take requests and sing for you. They are @workmansong and @si.may0. This talented duo will be streaming live on Youtube for St. Patricks Eve at 7:30 EST, so check out their feeds for details.

Look for the luck, and it will appear.

As we stand on our battlements, awaiting the arrival of a pandemic, make sure to verify any information that you read about the virus and how it spreads. There are a lot of rumors and false hypotheses running rampant that inflate the panic.

Shine the light of truth (The Sun Lenormand) on any written missives (The Letter Lenormand) that proclaim how the virus spreads (The Ship). Keeping calm will help boost our immune systems and maintain equilibrium.

The ship can indicate crossing over, other worlds, navigating, different dimensions as well as travel.

In this dormant season, where the nights are long and quiet, and the earth appears to wait, shrouded in cold, people and animals hibernate in their homes.

It is a time of introspection, void of distractions. Spring’s creative bursts of energy, summer’s outdoor events and activities, and fall’s drive to harvest are but memories.

In this quiet time, we may have emotions and ignored facets of ourselves that start to emerge from our subconscious. These feelings can sometimes be overwhelming.

Our message today is that Spirit is the boat that will keep us from drowning, which will help us to navigate these surfacing tides. If we start to feel swamped, we can ask Spirit to hold us and to help us acknowledge, honor, and release.
