The Eight of Swords warns us that we may have prejudices and self-sabotaging beliefs that are blinding us to our potential.  The House Lenormand card tells us that these ideas originate in our homes.

Although this could be pointing out that people in your household have stereotyped you into a role that no longer fits, I think this message is more about the information that we allow into our homes.

How many of us watch TV? If we do, we are constantly bombarded with messages from advertisers trying to sell us products, convincing us that we are imperfect unless we buy their solutions. Women aren’t beautiful if they aren’t thin. Men need to be fit and assertive. We will be happier if we purchase x, y, or z.  In sitcoms and movies, love is often all about physical chemistry and not friendship. People are valued by their financial abundance and not spiritual wealth or kindness.

I feel that our message today is to look clearly at the information that we absorb every day, in our homes, whether it is from the people around us or the entertainment that we watch, and measure it against what we hear in those moments when Spirit fills us. Maybe make a list with one column for what the media and external sources are telling us about ourselves, and one for what Spirit affirms.  Then, make sure that we find a way to filter out sabotaging voices and open up to what strengthens us.

THE SNAKE – Lenormand

If we are fooling ourselves or telling ourselves falsehoods, it is not serving our highest good. The Ten of Swords is telling us that the chapter of lies is over. It is time to face ourselves honestly, stand up, and step onto the path to our true purpose.

These cards could also mean that it is time to step away from people that are deceiving us, either by diminishing us with their words or coaxing us down paths that are not aligned with our highest good and the highest good of the world around us.

Today, we should take a moment to meditate on Spirit and ask to see the world with eyes unclouded by the prejudices of others or ourselves.

The Three of Cups is about celebration, gathering with friends, elevating your spirits. In the reversed position, it could indicate that we have been spending too much time alone.

THE DOG – Lenormand
The Lenormand Dog represents a loyal friend, partner, trusted companion, or dog. It could be your therapist or pastor. It is someone who has your back and who you trust.

I think our message today is to celebrate whoever that dog card symbolizes for us. Break from routine and set up a date to do something purely for friendship, whether it is meeting a friend to go dancing, or taking our dog for a walk. Get out and celebrate friendship.

Sometimes the three of cups reversed can indicate excessive partying or drinking alone. If that resonates with where we are in life right now, these cards could be advising us to seek out a support group or a counselor today.

Choice – duality – options – multiple directions

I think every one of us has beasts living in us that we don’t like to acknowledge: envy, bitterness, rage, sadness. These powerful feelings, if ignored and unattended, gain strength, and can leak out and lash out uncontrollably. We might not even be aware of the emotional fingerprints or bruises that they leave on the people around us, we are so busy ignoring them, trying to deny their existence.

For some of us, these emotions can surge with such force that our sense of self is swept away, and we become helpless before them.

Today’s message is to choose to integrate them. We do not exist separately from these feelings and cannot dissect them from our core. Spirit tells us to stop trying.

Instead, we should greet these beasts with compassion. Try to understand them, where they were born, what sustains them, what triggers them.

All of our emotions have value. They all serve us, protect us, warn us, expand us, and make us each uniquely gifted.

By accepting these parts of ourselves, and listening to them, we can anticipate them, if not tame them, and we will be able to make intentional choices on how they impact our behavior – towards ourselves and the people around us.

Today is an excellent day to journal about your inner menagerie, or to talk to a therapist or trusted friend about them. How do they strengthen you? How might they serve you?

With THE RING, Spirit reminds us of its promise to be with us eternally, ever-present, ready to renew us.

Those moments, days, weeks, where we feel spiritually empty inside, wholly depleted, like our well has run dry, and hopelessness starts to multiply the darkness inside us. In those moments, we forget that promise. Like the impoverished figures in the five of pentacles, we have our backs to it.

The message today is that we don’t need to do everything on our own. We don’t need to deplete our finite human energy to tackle daily physical and emotional challenges. Spirit is always present and ready to renew us if we only open ourselves up.

The message today encourages us to embrace guidelines and advice to achieve mastery in our field, to turn to our elders for their wisdom, and to work as a team to manifest a shared dream.

Above all, I think this pair of cards urges us to add beauty to the structures of our days. In this one life-long endeavor, perhaps our bones, flesh, and organs are the blueprints, but the actions, the smiles, the words, the intentions that we animate them with become our contribution to the higher good.

If we are struggling today to regain our balance, to re-establish the flow between our intuition, our calling, and our day to day life, Spirit advises us to turn off our social media and email.

Perhaps in the last days, we have been inundated with all the opinions of our social media networks. We may have wandered down more than one rabbit hole when topics caught our attention. The headlines hook us, fanning the flames of our anxiety, or inflating our egos.

To regain balance, disconnect from the digital noise. Walk outside. Breath. Center.
